Jamison.
Nancy Jamison asked Karen
Rusche if the new uniform policy was going to be enforced. Karen
stated they do try to enforce the policy. She was not sure that the point
system was appropriate action for non-compliance.
Karen Rusche gave
the principal’s report:
-
Ms. Sandy Ausdenmore
and Sr. Carol Louise have made the decision not to return next school year.
They will be missed.
-
The Commission was asked to write down numbers
for the class size next year: K-34, 1-48, 2-45, 3-40, 4-53, 5-54, 6-57,
7-43, and 8-54. This is a total of 428 students. We are planning on having
two homerooms for every grade and still working on math and language arts
grouping for grades 6 and 8. There is an additional teacher and plan to
have her work with the 6th and 8th grades. We are continuing to look at the
entire process.
-
The Finance Committee with approval by Fr.
Dave will have a salary freeze on all OLL personnel.
-
The Finance Committee has received some
concessions from the Archdiocese as we work for the Capital Campaign to pay
off the parish debt.
-
There are plenty of rumors that OLL is
closing. This is not true. Please continue to promote OLL parish and
school.
-
We have received a $15,000 grant from Option C
to supply the software necessary to print report cards online and track all
student and staff information. The faculty will begin training next week.
Our cost will be $1,100 for the training and $10 per student for the
2007-2008 school year.
-
We will have telephones in all classrooms next
year.
-
We received another defibrillator which will
be placed in the church. We have filled the requirement that at least five
personnel have been trained in CPR.
-
The Kindergarten Mothers’ Tea is tomorrow.
-
Our musical “Rock the Jukebox” is Wednesday,
May 16, at 7 p.m. at Mt. St. Joseph’s Theater.
Terri Brown announced that the teacher survey
forms are ready for next week. Julie Balzano asked how the teachers responded
to the forms, and Karen Rusche stated they were
positively received.
Scott Liesch
suggested for those parents whose children regularly misbehave that they can
attend a parenting meeting, much like through our adult faith formation
groups.
Nancy Jamison asked about bullying. Karen
Rusche stated they do what they can do when they
know that it is happening.
Terri Brown asked about candidates to serve the
next term on the Commission. Lynda Sexton volunteered to serve on the
Commission. Terri asked for other names of candidates and will contact them.
Terri Brown called for an adjournment to the
meeting. A motion was made by Amy Osterfeld.
The next Education Commission meeting will be on
Thursday, June 14, 2007.
Respectfully
submitted,
Julie Balzano, Secretary
