The meeting was opened with a prayer, and there was an approval of the minutes.
Karen Rusche gave the Principal’s report:
Nancy Jamison handed out the revised School Uniform Policy. The revision was approved by the Commission.
Terri Brown handed out a Statement of Commitment Form to be used by new registrants. A new form will be developed for current families to use. The form was approved for use by new registrants. The heading will be changed to read “New Registrants”. We will work to create a Statement of Commitment form for Kindergarten and for grades 1-8.
ACTION: Terri Brown will give Karen Rusche the revised Parish Membership/School Admission Form.
Terri Brown asked for volunteers for the sub-committee with the Finance Committee to create a Statement of Commitment. These volunteers are: Terri Brown, Lynn Breidenstein, Julie Balzano, and Sue Kampel. It was presented that we should have a PTO representative. We will coordinate with the Building/Grounds crew and see what other schools do. The point of the volunteerism is to offset work that is currently done. The Statement of Commitment will not include tuition assistance matters. This will be at the discretion of Fr. Dave and Jim Frede.
Terri Brown presented handouts from Pat Armstrong, an Archdiocesan Assistant Superintendent, of surveys used in another school to assist in improving student learning in our classrooms. This feedback will prove valuable as we continue to provide the highest education possible. As partners in the children’s education, this input will be used to determine the need for improvement among teachers and administrator. All surveys will be sent to the office and shared with the teachers. These surveys will be sent annually and tracked for possible trends. Karen Rusche stated she would present the forms to representatives from each grade level and get their feedback. The goal is that the forms be sent out by mid-May. There was discussion about the forms used a few years ago by the ISPD group. Terry Rabanus stated he would find a copy of these forms and send to Terri Brown and Karen Rusche.
ACTION: Terry Rabanus to get copy of forms and send to Karen Rusche and Terri Brown. Karen Rusche will present forms to teacher representatives.
Karen Rusche proceeded to discuss the letter Fr. Dave recently sent to all parishioners concerning the state of the parish. The letter was meant to educate all parishioners on the financial matters of the parish and to let them know that our situation is serious. The parish, also, needs to show the positives of our parish, and the people need to know the importance of getting involved. The Parish Council and Staff are working on a newsletter.
Jim Frede stated the parish has a strategic plan currently at the Archdiocese. The May newsletter will have a complete breakdown of the capitol campaign.
There was discussion of the Board needing to replace the three outgoing members and to actively look for candidates.
There was an adjournment of the meeting. Next meeting
is
