Early Childhood Religious Education

Early childhood religious education is offered for children ages four and five. Classes are held in St. Bernadette Hall during the 11 a.m. Sunday Mass. The program is designed to support parents in forming their children in the Catholic faith. Children are exposed to Scripture and prayer. They learn Christian attitudes in a welcoming environment of learning and play. For more information, please contact Ms. Kristina Krimm, 347-2646.

Religious Education For Elementary Children

Religious education is provided for children in grades 1-8 who attend area public schools. Classes teach the foundational elements of our Catholic faith tradition and build on the child’s experience of faith in the home. The curriculum is based on the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. These four pillars of Catholic doctrine are What Catholics Believe, How Catholics Worship, How Catholics Live, and How Catholics Pray. Students develop an understanding and appreciation for the Word of God through Sacred Scripture.

Within the context of the program, sacramental preparation is provided at the appropriate levels. It is our policy that students receive religious instruction at least one year prior to receiving a sacrament. Since First Communion is usually received in second grade, it is necessary that a child attend Religious Education classes in first grade. Classes meet on Monday evenings, 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.  Classes begin in mid-September and end the middle of May.

All classes are taught by people of the parish who graciously volunteer their time. These volunteers have been trained to work with their particular grade levels.
