Child Protection Decree and Fingerprinting
Do You Plan to Volunteer?
The Archdiocesan Decree on Child Protection requires that all employees and volunteers who have regular contact with children attend a VIRTUS® Child Awareness Session and complete a favorable criminal background check before working or volunteering with children. Session participants must register with VIRTUS ONLINE, http://www.virtusonline.org, before or after attending a Child Awareness Session. There are several parishes that offer the Child Awareness Sessions. The schedule may be found on the VIRTUS website. For more information, see the Archdiocesan website, www.catholiccincinnati.org.
As part of the Decree, employees and volunteers must also submit to a criminal background check from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification. The State of Ohio processes background checks using fingerprints. A person must bring a driver’s license and a signed FP-1 Form to the fingerprinting location. The FP-1 Form may be obtained from the Parish Office Center or the school office. Fingerprinting must be done at an Archdiocesan approved location. St. Teresa of Avila offers fingerprinting on Monday thru Thursday – 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Friday – 9:00 am to 10:00 am; 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
2nd Wednesday of every month – 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Check the Archdiocesan website for additional times and locations.
