The Lord will bless His people with Peace.
January 12, 2020
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. We will hear in the Gospel that Jesus was baptized by John, his cousin. We will also hear the voice of God saying, “This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased.” May we also hear these words spoken to us in our hearts – so that we may know that we are loved and pleasing to our God.
In baptism, we take on the work that comes with the name Christian. We are called to live our lives for others; and to seek the will of God in all that we do. The baptism we received, however many years ago, was not a one-time event. It was, rather, an ongoing commitment that continues everyday of our lives as we journey to the dwelling place of God.
It seems that we live at a time when we must recommit ourselves to the work of being disciples of Jesus Christ; the work of living the Gospel of justice, reconciliation and servanthood. May we make this commitment. Also, please take some special time in the coming week to pray for peace and for the many people through out the world struggling due to tensions in the Middle East and natural disasters.
We pray for each other.
Have a blessed week! Fr. Len
