4th Sunday of Easter

April 18, 2021

Good Shepherd Sunday

On the Fourth Sunday of Easter, we celebrate Jesus, the Good Shepherd.  He protects his people like a shepherd protects in flock.  He searches for the lost and brings them back.  He seeks to restore all in his love.  As Christians, we are called to exercise our vocation of hospitality especially to those members who have wandered away or become disconnected from the Church.  We are also called to pray for vocations.  Please consider using the following prayer sometime this week, especially with young people.

Prayer to Discern our Vocations:
Father of all creation, you bless us with the gift of Jesus who cares for us as our Good Shepherd.  When you anointed us in Baptism, you gave us our mission to be the eyes, and hands, and heart of Your risen Son.  Breathe into us Your Spirit to inspire us to choose the way of life that best serves You and Your gifts.  Let Your spirit be our companion on life’s journey to live dedicated lives as married and single people, as deacons, priests and religious.  Help our parents and friends to support those You are inviting to ministry in the Church with their special support and encouragement.  United with Jesus, our shepherd, help us embrace the vocation You have in store for us with joy and eager longing.  Amen

We are blessed that a member of the parish, Mark Madden, will be completing his second year of Deacon formation in May.  Mark has received the Ministry of Lector to proclaim the Word and the Ministry of Acolyte to assist at the Altar.  He continues his studies and discernment toward ordination in April 2022.

Congratulations to all the young people who made their First Communion this weekend!

Have a blessed week!   Fr. Len
