"Judgement of the Nations"

"Judgement of the Nations"

Our Lord Jesus Christ King of the Universe

Today we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King.  The final Sunday of the church year.  Our Gospel speaks to us of what will happen at the end of time “when the Son of Man comes in his glory.”  It speaks of judgement, the judgement of the nations.  Jesus spells it out.  Those who enter the Kingdom of Heaven will be those who fed the hungry, gave water to the thirsty, welcomed the stranger, clothed the naked, cared for the ill, and visited the imprisoned.  We are told that when we show love and care for others, we are loving and caring for Christ.  Faith in action, rather than faith alone is the church’s principle.

Over this past year, how have you practiced the corporal works of mercy?

As Thanksgiving approaches, may we all give thanks to God for the blessings we receive.  As COVID 19 cases, continue to rise, may we take care as we celebrate to do all we can to keep each other healthy and safe.  Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 am on Thanksgiving Day.

At the 11 am Mass this weekend and again on December 6th, Candidates for Confirmation will commit themselves to preparing for the sacrament in the spring.  Please join them and their families in prayer as they begin this journey.

I am grateful to all who prayed for me and assisted me as I recovered from surgery over the past two weeks.  Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

Have a blessed week!  Fr. Len
