Thank You for the 40th Anniversary Celebration!
Sunday, June 23, 2019
Thank you to everyone who offered a greeting, a card or a gift. I am also grateful to those who helped make my 40th anniversary celebration so wonderful. I am very grateful for your kindness. And now for the second 40….
Living in memory of Christ
When Jesus said, “Do this in memory of me,” he was referring to giving himself, pouring out his life’s blood for the sake of others, not to be a menu, a prayer formula, or a set of gestures. To take bless and break bread in Jesus’ name implies the commitment to be in communion with his self-giving. Thus St. Paul reminds us, “As often as you eat this bread and drink this cup … you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes again.” Living ready to participate in the death of Lord is the only way to proclaim it.
There are no seats for observers at the table of the Eucharist, whether we participate daily or only after long and serious preparation. St. Paul tells us that as often as we eat this bread and drink this cup, we recommit ourselves to proclaim the death of the Lord by our very lives. May this coming week provide many opportunities to give of yourselves…
Please consider visiting the Summer Fair this weekend at Holy Family in the church parking lot.
At Lourdes, on Tuesday, June 25 join us in church for a presentation “From Social Justice to Social Action” by Tony Stiertitz of Catholic Charities Southwest Ohio. Next weekend is the St. Vincent de Paul pantry summer food drive and member so the festival committee will be in the Gathering Space selling Festival Fun Passes. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Have a blessed week! Fr. Len
